Henry is a qualified Dentist who studied at the University of Leeds. Having achieved A* grades in both his Biology and Geography A levels, with the highest result in his school for A level geography, it is safe to say that he has more than a passing interest in both natural sciences and conservation. For his studies, Henry has been involved in river sediment research as well as investigations into population demographics.

Henry has pursued his interests in the outdoors by completing his Gold DofE award and has travelled extensively throughout Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa and the Caribbean. Henry is an avid skier and sailor, spending many summers and winters in Austria. Henry particularly enjoys spending time in the alpine environment. At university, Henry was part of the hiking society as well as the Leeds Medics and Dentists ski society. He adds:

‘The experience of going to the Arctic has allowed me to further develop my interests in Geography and Geology. Spending time in such an isolated and beautiful part of the world is a privilege, and to be involved in research which may aid conservation in the future is not only exciting, but an issue that is very important to me.’

Henry's first expedition to Svalbard with the Arctic Research Group was in 2019 to Bockfjord and he returned in 2023 with the Recherchefjord expedition. Henry’s own research has included exploring the oral hygiene changes over the course of an expedition and the effect these changes have on the team’s oral health.
